NoblePro Elite Series Noise Levels

NoblePro SupportElite Series, InformationLeave a Comment

Introduction

This page goes over the NoblePro Elite Series noise level measurement. We know this is important to many people so we have taken the time to record the noise levels at different treadmill speeds.

How was it measured

The noise was measured at 1 m to the right of the motor cover and 1 m off the ground. The measurement environment was set in a house (so you can relate) with hard floors with no sound absorbing material in the room e.g. curtains. The measurement were taken with the treadmill off then at 1 km/hr, 10km/h and 20 km/hr with no one on the treadmill.

What is dB?

The decibels (dB) is the unit of measure for sound levels which uses a nonlinear scale. To get an idea of what dB levels mean in the real world have a look at this chart.

Other considerations

It is important to consider that these measurements are without someone using the treadmill. The users walking and running style as a big impact on the noise levels of the treadmill when in use.

Introduction

This page contains the instructions how to calibrate the speed for the Elite E8.0.

Note: This procedure is for advanced users and to be undertaken at one’s own risk.

What will I need?

To ensure accurate calibration of the speed you will need a measuring instrument called a tachometer.  We recommend using one of the following tachometers:

Sealey TA050 Digital Tachometer – Amazon Link OR Protmex Digital Tachometer (MS6208A) – Amazon Link

It is not recommended calibrating the treadmill speed using any other device as accuracy is likely going to suffer as a result.

How to calibrate the speed

    1. With the safety key in place start the treadmill and record the running belt speed using the recommended tachometer at 1 km/hr, 10 km/hr and 20 km/hr.
Note: Ensure you follow the tachometer manufacturers user’s manual to measure in km/hr using the correct attachment. If the device does not measure in km/hr ensure to convert the values accordingly.
    1. Stop the treadmill and remove the safety key.
    2. Press the START and SPEED (-) buttons at the same time. This will bring up the advanced settings menu.
    3. Press the Programs / Training Prog button until d06 appears on the screen. This is the calibration value at 1 km/h.
    4. Use the SPEED (+) and (-) buttons to increase or decrease the value by 1 to adjust the speed.
    5. Press Programs / Training Prog button until d07 appears on the screen. This is the calibration value at 10 km/h.
    6. Use the SPEED (+) and (-) buttons to increase or decrease the value by 1 to adjust the speed.
    7. Press Programs / Training Prog button until d08 appears on the screen. This is the calibration value at 20 km/h.
    8. Use the SPEED (+) and (-) buttons to increase or decrease the value by 1 to adjust the speed.
    9. Press the STOP button once complete. This will save the values.
    10. Measure the running belt speed again with the new values saved as per step 1.
    11. Repeat steps 1-11 until the readings are within +/- 0.5 km/hr of the displayed speed.
  1. Congratulations! Your treadmill speed is now calibrated.

Troubleshooting

Belt stutters. Reduce the d09 value until the belt runs smoothly (see guide here). Suggested starting point is 65.

Belt speed inconsistent at steady speed. The calibration values are out of bounds. Reset and save the default values.

What is FTMS?

NoblePro SupportInformationLeave a Comment

Introduction

The FiTness Machine Service protocol better known as FTMS is the latest Bluetooth standard used to control fitness equipment including treadmills, training bikes and rowing machines.

What does FTMS mean in the real world?

It is revolutionizing app development as we know it! On a practical basis standardisation means 3rd party people can create apps that can communicate with any FTMS enabled device. Some popular app’s that use FTMS are Zwift Run and Kinomaps.

Are all Apps made equal?

The short answer is no. The use of FTMS enables great features but the functionality depends on whether the equipment and app’s use all the available features. The NoblePro Elite Series treadmills are fully FTMS compatible which means if the app supports the FTMS feature it will get the data from our treadmill.

What FTMS features are supported by NoblePro?

We have enabled all the needed FTMS functions to facilitate some amazing functionality with NoblePro treadmill. To make things easier we have provided a list of data that the treadmill provides as well as the control functions that are enabled.

Control & send receive status of the treadmill:

  • Speed (current speed, control target speed)
  • Incline (current incline, control target incline)
  • Start (start the treadmill)
  • Stop (stop the treadmill)

Send status only of the treadmill:

  • Time (current total session time)
  • Distance (current total session distance)
  • Heart Rate* (current heart rate)
  • Calories (current total session calories)

*this function is only available when connecting a NoblePro heart rate monitor to a NoblePro treadmill.

Why am I not able to use all the functions?

The use of FTMS is great but both the equipment and app need to follow the same standards. If you are not recieving or able to control some of the items listed above it is most likely that the app is not fully FTMS complaint or missing the functions within the app. If this is the case please reach out to the app developer to confirm any issues or limitations.

Why buy a FTMS enabled product?

The use of FTMS enables the use of free and paid app’s with your fitness equipment for current and future apps. This means you can breathe new inspiration into your fitness routine now and into the future.
